My name is John Paul ODonnell and I’m a classically trained professional photographer with a career that spans 24 years. My passion and excitement for my job has taken me all over Europe, specialising in Fashion and Wedding photography. To date I have over 450 fashion assignments and 1000 weddings under my belt.
The first wedding I shot was a model who I photographed regularly at fashion shows she walked for Christian Dior, it was this assignment in particular that taught me the importance of creating timeless images where attention to detail is paramount. At a later assignment for a film production company, I was tasked with photographing pro skiers on the peaks of the French Alps. This involved me having to drop from a helicopter where I had just one chance to get it right. And that’s what drives me forward: One spectacular event, and just one opportunity to be the best I can possibly be in order to deliver exceptional, creative and unique photos.
Clicking the shutter is just a small part of what I do. Meeting people, having fun, and building a rapport is an essential part of my work. In fact, many wedding guests assume I’m a family friend when they see the way I interact with my clients. I love this part of my job – I love talking to and hearing about them, and I love watching their stories unfold on what will be one of the most important days of their lives. But when the day is over, there’s still so much more work to be done. With up to 800 beautiful moments captured, the editing process begins. Each chosen image is the perfected and adjusted.
It’s my mission to personalise every wedding and event that I’m assigned to, and to deliver breathtaking images. I don’t do mediocre; my aim is to give you not only an exceptional service, but a stunning storybook of incredible, once-in-a-lifetime memories. I don’t want you to merely smile when you see my work; I want you to be in awe. It’s what you deserve, and it’s what I’ve spent half of my life striving to deliver.
Each and every wedding or event I photograph is unique, and my photographs reflect that. It has never been my intention to tell a single story – I want to tell your story. JP is one of a kind!
