The initial Meet.
We met at Fanhams Halls wedding show nearly two years ago. Emily and Nick came over to my stand – immediately we got on and talked about their wedding day and what they were looking for. Nick and I got on brilliantly and chatted about fitness and that we have both done boxing at a fairly decent standard.
They loved the style of the photos and the natural, fun aspect really appealed to them both. I looked at them together and could clearly see that they are very close and have a beautiful relationship…. they then went ahead and booked me to be their Photographer.
The Pre Shoot 12 weeks to the day (26/09/2015).
The Pre shoot session was at Fanhams Hall (the location of the Wedding) which can be viewed here, I started the pictures at 10.30am to catch the early sun. I immediately saw that they are both very photogenic and are such a fantastic couple to work with, they were up for all my crazy idea’s and threw in some of their own as well and just never stopped smiling from the start of the shoot. I said to them if you can both do this on your wedding day “you will absolutely nail the shots”.
The Wedding Day (19/12/2015)
I arrived at Fanhams Hall at 11.15 am and went into The Great Hall that was being set up for the wedding breakfast. I saw Debbie Guy the GM and some of the suppliers getting ready and could see it was taking shape and starting to look amazing.
11.30 am. I went up to The Bridal Suite to see Emily, she is a beautiful and caring person and her dress was something a little bit special and looked amazing hanging up on the old wardrobe. The bridesmaids and maid of honour were having their make up and hair done and were all really bubbly introducing themselves to me and offering me a glass of Champagne – such” fantastic and beautiful girls”, they love posing for a picture aswell – so I started shooting away just catching that moment.
Emily’s dad Graham ran a successful photography business so both her and her sister (maid of honor) are used to posing for pictures for their dad, it was brilliant for me because they had been around photography all their lives and showed the rest of the girls how it was done!
Nick is such a great guy to be around, along with his friends all such good people. You can see what a close-knit group of friends he has around him who clearly all support him and Emily. He arrived with them and his Brother / best man Olly and I took some pictures in the courtyard at Fanhams Hall, after the pictures were taken they all went off in different directions and knew what their jobs were and cracked on straight away getting people up to the ceremony and doing all there other duties… all the time making sure Nick was as relaxed as possible.
These love birds were married at my all time favourite venue to shoot at Fanhams Hall, such a perfect backdrop for a true love story. Although it was cold, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and I know everyone had a fantastic time. The bride and groom got onto the Hotel Golf Buggy and we drove down into all the areas of the hotel grounds to take their pictures and then joined all the guests back in the Library to listen to the singer Alex Bay who the couple had booked for their guests to enjoy (see Here) he is the Bro of James Bay and was BRILLIANT ! Great to listen to before the guests all took their seats for the meal.
Just before the speeches were about to start the couple had arranged the song ” The twelve days of christmas” (home video here) to be played with each of the 12 tables being each part of the song.. this was amazing and had the whole room up singing when their part of the song was to be sung….the loudest and best two tables got a bottle of Champagne each ” a great incentive “.
Then the speeches started and The brides dad Graham did an audio recording about his beautiful daughter which was played after he did the initial speaking part of the speech, this was brilliant and id never seen it done before in this way. Nick then delivered an amazing speech up there with the best i’ve seen he is clearly well-trained in Public speaking, his brother Olly was also fantastic and a very confident speaker (was head boy – so he is used to it ), it ended with the best man arranging three of Nicks university friends to walk into the room to music wearing the grooms clothes from different era’s of his life … everyone was dying with laughter including the Bride and Groom … very well done Olly.
Personal message to Emily & Nick.
