Another fabulous wedding in the Cheshunt area and it was a day of goodbye’s as well as celebration. There were two photographers for Gemma and Ryan’s big day, Marisa stayed with the girls in the morning and I met the boys at St Mary’s church in Cheshunt. After meeting up with the videographer Anthony from Spotlight Weddings, we set about getting some shots with the boys in the church grounds.
We let the boys have a break as we got some shots of the church and chatted with the priest Father John who informed us he was leaving, which is a shame as he’s always been a pleasure to work with.
Gemma soon arrived in a beautiful classic Bentley and it was time to start the show. Due to the wedding being in November, the couple had switched traditional hymns for Christmas Carols which was a nice touch. Before long the couple enjoyed their first kiss and we moved on to signing the register.
As there were two photographers on call, Marisa stayed in the church and I waited like paparazzi outside to get the couple and their young daughter leaving the church. Although the weather was cold it was a beautiful bright day and we got some lovely family group photos outside and of course the confetti shots looked amazing with the bright winter sun which was peering through the trees.
Gemma and Ryan left for Ponsbourne Park and the whole wedding party followed on behind. This was the penultimate wedding to be held at this wonderful wedding venue.
With there being only a short time that we had available light, and with the temperature dropping, we got through the group photos outside on the back lawn at Ponsbourne, before the bride and groom lead the way in their receiving line.
The speeches soon followed after, with Gemma’s dad Gary leading the way with some touching remarks about his daughter, leaving her in tears. The main man then stood up and said some kind words, then his best man Alfie rounded up the speeches, with some hilarious stories about the groom.
As the guests took it easy after the meal, we couldn’t rest as there were more shots to be had, even though the light outside had faded. Ponsbourne has a beautiful staircase and it was put to good use with the bride and groom up for a couple of posed shots using off camera remote triggered flashes. There was a lovely moment when all of the groom’s male friends lifted him into the air for some photos as well as other photos of the guests.
Before we knew it was time for the first dance with DJ Howard Neil and dance floor by Strictly Dance Floors. As Marisa had the main shots covered, I changed my point of view by using a 24 foot mast to get some aerial photos of the first dance, it’s like bringing in your own balcony to get looking down shots, very effective and offers a unique perspective.
Many congratulations Gemma and Ryan, such a great day. Good luck to you both.
