Katie and Reece’s wedding was photographed by Essendon Country Club Photographer | John Paul ODonnell. The first wedding at the amazing Essendon Country Club since Covid. I was so excited to get the chance to work at this gorgeous venue again. Ive known Jo who runs the weddings at Essendon a long time for many years so its always nice to shoot here. Situated in a picturesque 400 acre estate, there are lots of opportunities for beautiful wedding photography. The couple chose a civil ceremony which takes place on the mezzanine of the Grand Barn (a fantastic open space). Essendon Golf And Country Club is the perfect backdrop for our natural and contemporary wedding photography.

MORNING PREPARATION

All of our wedding photography packages include a full day coverage. As a result, our images tell the full story of a wedding day from the morning preparations right through to the evening party. Katie spent the morning getting ready in the conservatory at Essendon Golf And Country Club. This is a lovely bright and modern area and great for those make up and getting ready shots. Natural light is so important for photographers so getting ready in a conservatory would make for those amazing bridal preparation photos. Some of my favourite pictures from the morning are of the bride just after hair and makeup was finished – she looked absolutely beautiful.

CIVIL CEREMONY

Katie and Reece chose a civil ceremony. The stunning mezzanine is perfect and the view from it over looks one of the golf courses. The huge oak beamed roof makes it a charming place to get married.

PHOTOGRAPHY AT Essendon Golf And Country Club

After a quick confetti shot and a picture of the whole wedding party the drinks reception began. I love photographing the natural moments during this part of the wedding. Family and guests are quick to pass on their well wishes to the happy couple which makes for many photo opportunities. Essendon Golf And Country Club is such a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos after all it is set in over 400 acres! I used this time to photograph the group shots along with some of the Katie and Reece together. The venue had arranged the golf buggy to take us where we wanted so we went right out onto the course and shot pictures using the lakes and bridges. The golf members were all really kind and some even took selfies with the couple. During this moment the newlyweds got time to relax and have some time to themselves away from guests. My favourite picture of the day has to be Katie and Reece on the edge of the lake, the reflection in the water was amazing.

EVENING PARTY

Next on the schedule was cake cutting and the first dance. Guests look forward to an evening of dancing – and with Lovelight DJ’ing we were certainly in for a treat. Essendon Golf And Country Club has beautiful ambient lighting which creates a relaxed atmosphere perfect for candid pictures. Photographers working here can enjoy shooting without flash until late in the evening. As an experienced Essendon Golf And Country Club wedding photographer I know how to get the best pictures at this stunning venue. THE FINAL SHOT

The light was drawing in quickly so I got Katie and Reece and we walked out onto the golf course until we got the break in trees so I could take a lovely silouhette of them against the sky. This was a beautiful moment and one that I always like to capture. This shot was taken across the lake by The Great Barn.
