I first got to know Charlene and Kane back in October 2014 when they booked me to do their wedding photography for 19th December 2015. The wedding got cancelled due to Kane becoming very unwell. Then back in May last year they set the new wedding date for 16th December 2017. I put the date straight in and have been looking forward to taking their photos since.
The Day started with me arriving at the venue at 10.30 am to see Kane and get some shots of him getting ready. His mum, dad, usher, best man, their baby Oakley and two nephews were all getting ready too. Kane was nice and relaxed and the sun was out so everything was perfect. Across the grounds of the hotel was the bridal suite. Charlene was in the room getting her hair and make up done. The bridal preparations were underway and with so many finishing touches, I was in my element. From the beginning, I knew this was set to be a wedding day with keen attention to detail. With the help of Faye and Zoe we set the dresses out and got then got Charlene for some pics. The girls were in great form ahead of the wedding so we took plenty of photos before I headed down to get ready for the ceremony
Charlene’s dress was a huge hit with guests, as were her bridesmaids’ dresses, perfect for a Christmas wedding.
After the ceremony, we headed out to the gardens and I went into a room upstairs and managed to get a big shot from above of all the guests. The cold was hitting hard but Charlene and Kane dug in and did some to beautiful shots on their own. I noticed the weather was slight rain so we went in for drinks once the rain stopped everyone went out and I shot all the family pictures. All the time making sure the couple were ok..particularly Kane as he had only got out of hospital a week ago..”hard and tough man”. We used Great Hallingbury Manor’s grounds for a few more photos before heading inside to join guests for a great reception.
The toastmaster (Gary) then called everyone through to sit down for the meal and the bride and groom made their entrance in. Andrew the general manger was organising the function and bought over an amazing Fillet steak for me cooked to perfection. After the meal Lorraine the mother of the bride started the speeches off. The whole room was behind her and she delivered a speech that had the whole room in tears listening to every word..you could have heard a pin drop. She got a huge round of applause and then it was over to Kane. This is one of the nicest and most beautiful grooms speeches I’ve ever heard, it had laughter in it and lots of tears. Kane stopped at times and you could his uncle Chris (cheshunt boxing club trainer and great guy) “go on son! and Kane finished it off beautifully. Oz the best man then absolutely nailed his speech with him ending with presenting Kane and Charlene with a Tottenham shirt for their son.. as a massive arsenal fan I don’t think he will be putting Oakleigh in it.
The fun didn’t end there. The night ended with an epic first dance and a picture outside against the night sky, which was the perfect way to draw an unforgettable day to a close.
Congratulations Charlene and Kane. A big thanks for inviting me to be a part of such a memorable day. Wishing you a great future together. JP x
