Sam and Luke were married on the 21st December 2017 and had an intimate civil ceremony at Coltsfoot Country Retreat.
The day started with me arriving at a hotel close to the wedding venue to start the photos with Luke and the boys. The boys were all having a beer and getting ready; the scene was set and the music was good, a bit of Tom Jones was playing and the mood was very chilled. Luke got into his made to measure suit, did his hair, put on his watch and was looking extremely sharp. I finished the pictures with the boys with a few shots outside and then made my 20 minute journey over to the bride.
When I arrived at Coltsfoot to see Sam, she was upstairs in the room with all the girls having her hair and make up done. I used this time to capture some detail shots (check out those Valentino shoes). Everyone was in great spirits, excited for the big day. Sam’s choice of dress had the wow factor; the detail was out of this world. Whilst her bridesmaids wore full length grey dresses with a fur top to keep them nice and warm.
Meanwhile Luke text me telling me he was a couple of minutes away. So I popped down and got some great shots of him and Greenie (best man) arriving in a Convertible Rolls Royce Dawn; pure class. The ushers came over and joined in for a few pics.
Meanwhile Sam and all the bridesmaids were ready to get into their dresses. Brian (father of the bride) walked in and saw his beautiful daughter in her wedding dress. There were tears coming from all directions ; It was a beautiful moment.
I then got in position for the Wedding Ceremony. The bridesmaids all walked in and it was now time for Sam and her dad. Luke turned around and watched his bride walk down the aisle. To see his reaction was priceless.
After the ceremony everyone was ready to throw the confetti, so I got everyone into two lines and the bride and groom walked through the middle of the snow confetti. There was light rain in the air so all the guests went under the open marquee; this was a great time for Sam and Luke to see everyone. The rain then stopped and I shot the family pictures.
Coltsfoot country retreat sits in one of the nicest parts of Hertfordshire. With the weather now on our side I swept the happy couple across the lane. I used the countryside backdrop with the horses and alpacas in the background. The light was dropping and this was the perfect time; I knew we didn’t have a lot of great light left. I made use of the brighter parts of the gardens and shot the pictures with Sam and Luke’s friends.
The room was now set for the meal and everyone took their places. Sam and Luke then made their entrance in and the room erupted with cheers. After the meal the speeches started and I have to say Luke is a natural public speaker. Telling us all of the day he proposed in New York… he also had the guests in stitches.
Afterwards everyone went through to the bar area whilst the room was turned around. Sam and Luke supplied sparklers for everyone and I got some great pictures.
They then cut their wedding cake and had their first dance together. Luke gave all his ushers Cigars and we had a lot of fun out there getting pics before heading back in for the party shots. SPJ were banging out the tunes and the dance floor was full.
Many congratulations guys. It was a privilege to be a part of your wedding day and I loved every second of it! Have a great Christmas and I will see you early January for the viewing. JP
