Before the Wedding
I met Donna and Luca about a year ago when they were planning their wedding. They came along to a wedding show I was exhibiting at and we immediately hit it off. I have photographed some of the family before (Chloe and Lee White) so I knew a few people who were going to be there.
The Wedding Day.
I arrived at Donna’s parents (Steve and Patricia’s) house 2 hours and 45 minutes before the ceremony. Donna was in the kitchen with her mum and sisters having their hair and make up done. Donna was very relaxed and was looking lovely. All the children were so well-behaved sitting watching tv, I went and introduced myself to them to start to get them all used to me and within 5 minutes they were all keen to get their photos done and show me how good they could pose… and they were all brilliant.
Botias was doing everyone’s hair and make up (great girl and extremely talented) it was at this point that I met Donnas 4 sisters…..great girls and all very close. The bubbly was flowing and the house very chilled indeed.
It was at this point that Donnas dad Steve came down from the shower, he was in a pair of jeans…. had shaving foam in his ears but was looking good so I decided it would be rude not to take a picture of probably the proudest man of the day…. “he even made me a cup of coffee” which was very nice of him.
I went up stairs and I saw the dress hanging up, it was at this point Donna and her sisters had told me that their mum hasn’t seen this particular dress and she was expecting a different one – one that they all knew mum wasnt 100% happy with.. Donna got in the New dress with the help of her 4 sisters and daughter and then walked down the stairs into the lounge, Patricia’s face was a delight to see, her beautiful daughter was looking amazing and she was crying with happiness, she wasnt expecting her daughter to be in this dress and it was a beautiful moment and one that will stay with me always.
I did a few photos and left the house to head over to Essendon to the ceremony and to see Luca. He had just arrived in a beautiful white Aston Martin that was a surprise from Donna. He was quite relaxed with his dad Rob and his two best men. Donna then arrived in a Black Rolls Royce Phantom and went in to see the registrar. I then set up with David from Spotlight Weddings and got our positions ready for the Civil Ceremony and waited for the bride to make her entrance.
The ceremony was lovely, it lasted about 30 minutes and then afterwards the couple stood on the staircase and were joined by all the wedding guests for one massive picture.
The light was good outside, it was a bit chilly so I made a decision to go out and do all the Classical shots of the couple, so the bride wrapped up in her beautiful white cloak and the couple headed out onto the golf buggies. We had two buggies on mine was myself. the banqueting manager and the video man, on the second buggy the Bride and Groom and the make up and hair lady (Boetias) hanging on the back.. we headed through the golf course until I saw the spot I wanted to use and when I did Boetias got Donna ready and we shot some beautiful pictures.. golfers were coming up past us congratulating the couple… it was a beautiful On my way be 15 minutes max minute shoot. Donna did extremely well as it was bitter and there was a cold wind. We headed back to the main house and did some shots with the cars before heading in to see the guests for the drinks reception…..it was so cold my trigger finger actually froze up.
The light had now dropped and it had turned really cold so I decided to shoot the group pictures inside on the staircase. Once we did these pictures the couple were announced in to the room for the wedding breakfast, the room erupted and Luca and Donna made their entrance in.
They had a fantastic meal and then the speeches started. There were three amazing speeches. Father of the bride, groom and then the two best men.. they had prepared a fantastic slide show about the couple and then another one specifically about Luca it played and was brilliant taking Luca to an uncomfortable level before building him back up to an applause and them hugging the main man.
After the speeches the couple went and saw their evening guests and then cut their wedding cake. Then they walked onto the dance floor and started the dancing off with their first dance. The dance floor was then packed all night until the point that I left at about 1o pm.
Personal message to Luca and Donna.

Here is a selection of pictures that I have chosen from the day. They are low resolution – There will be a higher resolution set going into an album on Facebook soon so don’t screenshot these, wait for the higher quality ones. JP
