How we met.
I first met Georgie and Matthew when they came along to a wedding show at Fanhams Hall. They had their two children with them Charles and Benjamin. Charles recognised my name and asked me if I had children at Goff’s school. Turns out he knows my daughter very well and had seen some of my pictures on instagram. Shortly after this show, Georgie and Matthew came over and booked in with me.
The Wedding Day.
I arrived at Fanhams Hall at 11.15 am and saw Matthew in the Great Hall. He was in there with Charles and they were making sure everything was being done to plan. Charles being a 15-year-old perfectionist had asked for all the table cloths to be changed as he wasn’t happy with them. I left them to it and headed off to see the bride.
I went up to the Royston room, this is a huge room which Georgie and all the girls were all getting ready in. Georgie was having her hair done and all the little flowergirls were watching tv. I said hello to everyone then started to get some natural pictures of them all getting ready.
I went down to see Matthew in the Long Gallery the guests were all starting to arrive. Matthew greeted his guests and then saw Richard and Kim “two of Hertfordshires best registrars”. I did a few pictures to document the story and then went back up to see Georgie. I walked in and she was getting in her dress. Her mum June was finishing doing the dress up. Once she was ready her dad Steve came into the room and saw her for the first time .. she looked amazing. I took some pictures with everyone before I headed down to the Long Gallery to set up for the ceremony. The flower girls, bridesmaids, Benjamin and Charles all walked down the aisle. The ceremony was lovely with two readings.
After the ceremony, the couple walked around the grounds with me having their pictures done. I used the bridges, formal and japanese gardens as well as other places…the light was bright and cloudy “pretty much perfect shooting conditions”.
We then came up to the beautiful house and shot the family and friend pictures. Johnathan from Fanhams Hall then called all the guests in. Whilst this was happening Charles a trained first aider put some ice on his mum’s foot (she had twisted her ankle whilst walking back to the house). Well done Charles.. that was very impressive.
The meal was served and Paul Bray (executive chef at Fanhams) had created some new dishes which were chosen by the couple for their wedding breakfast. Then followed the three speeches Father of the bride, groom and best man. Matthews speech was really impressive, he thanked all the flower girls, bridesmaids and Benjamin, Charles and his best man. He then gave them all gifts and spoke beautifully about Georgie his beautiful wife.
After the meal the couple had given everyone a coin which they took down to the fountain and all made a wish.. “beautiful thing to do”. They then greeted their evening guests and then cut their wedding cake. I took some pictures before they started their choreographed dance routine. The dance floor lit up and peter from SPJ put the dry ice across it… it looked like a fairytale. Everyone then joined in dancing.
I then took the couple out to the staircase where I shot a beautiful finishing image to the wedding day, said my goodbyes and left them to enjoy the rest of their beautiful day.
Enough waffling, these pictures hopefully give a good flavour of their day and just how beautiful a backdrop Fanhams Hall is for a wedding. Enjoy!
