Milling Barn Wedding Photography. Back at the gorgeous Milling Barn outside Royston for Jessica and Stephens’s big day at the end of August! Jessicas family are very close family friends and her wedding is the second of the 4 siblings. Jessica and the girls were getting ready at her parents home in Wyddial with Grace in charge of make up and beauty, everyone was looking on point. The house was nice and busy when I arrived with everyone together in the kitchen which rang with laughter. I grabbed a few shots of Jessica’s beautiful dress before joining everyone in the kitchen. I spent a lovely, relaxed hour or so capturing Jessica and co having hair and make up finished off and enjoying prosecco and M&S sandwiches – a winning combination!
Before we knew it. it was time for Jessica to get dressed, and she looked amazing in her beautiful dress. Everyone went outside her dad Tony was first to see her as she came out, which was a lovely moment. He had bought a beautiful Navy Blue Bentley Brooklands for the wedding and drove her to Milling Barn himself.
I got some shots of everything set up for the ceremony and some candid photos of Jessica and Stephen’s guests enjoying a pre-ceremony drink and then waited for Jessica to arrive. Which she did with her dad at the wheel – my favourite! The ceremony was small and intimate with very low natural light, so I used a flash which actually added to the atmosphere. I was impressed with the length of their first kiss as husband and wife…it was one of the longest Ive photographed in 25 years of wedding photography!
Jessica and Stephen walked back up the aisle and I set up a confetti tunnel outside the main barn doors which leads out onto the terrace. After them saying hi to some of their friends and family I started whipping through their group photos.
It was time for me to take Jessica and Stephen around the gardens for a few photos of the two of them away from their audience! We headed across the road to the swing and horses. They were absolute naturals and it wasn’t long before I was leaving them for a few moments alone together whilst I headed inside to get some detail shots of everything set up for the wedding breakfast. The barn looked beautiful with more flowers everywhere.
Guests took their seats and the food was served. I headed out to the bar area to back up my photos and to wait for some food to arrive. I met the band members and got to catch up with my pal Anthony from spotlight weddings who was filming the day.
After dessert we headed out for a few dusky shots in the high grass but this ended quickly as the rain started to come down. it was time for the cake cutting and Jessica and Stephen’s first dance. They were soon joined on the dance floor by all of their guests and I got some great party shots before the band kicked in to lift the roof off the barn!Heres a snippet from their day, please enjoy.
