Stacey and Alex booked me to be their photographer after lots of different friends had recommended me to them. We met up just over a year before the wedding and hit it off straight away. They booked me then booked my friend Anthony from Spotlight Weddings to film the day. The dream team as we are often referred to.
We met up around 4 weeks ago and I did a pre wedding shoot for them. They practiced their smiles and poses and really did well and got some great pictures. See them here
The Wedding Day
All week I was looking at the weather to see how it was going to be. The day itself was dry and very windy, the sun tried coming through at times so all in all it was ok but we got hit by the rain a couple of times. The lucky thing is with The Reid Rooms there are areas sheltered from the the wind so it worked out really well.
I arrived at The Reid Rooms at 11.30 am. Alex had just arrived with his best man reef and all the ushers. What a great bunch of lads they went into the ceremony room to sort out the music. Then headed over to The Farmhouse to all get ready. I did some shots of Alex getting ready and then headed upstairs to see the Bride.
Stacey was sitting at the dressing table having her hair and make up done. The bridal party were all getting ready and cracking open the prosecco. Stacey then got into her dress and looked absolutely stunning. It was at this point that her dad Colin came in and saw her for the very first time in the dress. He held her hands and gave her a big cuddle. Stacey was trying so hard to hold back the tears to her perfect make up.. it was ok she managed to hold it together and the tears at bay.
I then went down to get my position for the ceremony. The civil ceremony was very intimate with two readings and them exchanging rings and signing the register. Afterwards Stacey and Alex came outside and it had started to rain so we all quickly headed into the barn opposite. This worked out well as Stacey and Alex did their receiving line and got to say hello to all their guests. I went out and made sure that the double decker bus was in the right spot and at that point the rain had stopped. So I got the bride and groom and we went with the bridal party and did some great bus shots. With the help of some of the bridesmaids we then got everyone together and I did a shot of the whole wedding party. We then walked round into the driveway (sheltering from the wind) and did a confetti shot which worked really well. The wind had now picked up quite heavy enabling me to create some great dramatic shots of the couple together.
I then shot the family and immediate family groups. We were working to a list and with help of Laura and Emma we got all the shots done and Stacey and Alex did really well. When you see the bride and groom together they look amazing. They are a very good looking couple and are really into their photos so the shoot naturally went well.
As a professional photographer when your taking the pictures in the background there are always things going on that involve you. I was being asked how long its going to be? and when am I going to do this? its usually a toastmaster or someone from the venue. Well the best shots are always the ones you don’t plan for. This said we walked to the white gate and shot some beautiful images…The light was absolutely spot on and The Video team saying to me wow JP..yesssss.
I shot into the room as the time was up and the caterers wanted to get the couple sat down. Stacey wanted to hear her her brass band play and we went inside … Im so glad she did this as he was brilliant. She had a little dance and a limbo with the use of a wedding umbrella. It was a lovely moment with the bridesmaids and most of the bridal party joining in. Whilst this was happening the guests were all seated ready for the meal. Stacey and Alex came in and everyone cheered till they sat down at the top table.
It was now Speech time the room was full everyone turned their chairs so they could get a good view (no pressure there then). The guests being so close created a beautiful atmosphere. The drinks were flowing and the speakers did really well. Colin, Alex and then Reef (the best man) finished them off and told some great stories about Alex.
I noticed the sky was just right for an evening shot so Stacey and Alex came out for a few minutes (last pic). They then headed in and Piano DJ had set up for their first dance. This was beautiful but what followed was was of the best moments I’ve ever seen at a wedding. Stacey danced with her dad who had written, recorded and published the song that they danced too… What a talented man I loved it “and an amazing thing to see” it sounded great and they had a beautiful dance together… in there own moment literally just them.
The music kicked in and the tunes were great. Everyone was dancing so I got a few party shots then said goodbye so that they could enjoy the rest of their day.
Heres some pictures that I have selected from this fabulous wedding.
