I have worked at Ware Priory many times over the years so when I got the call from Chloe about doing her wedding I jumped straight at the chance. Ware Priory wedding photography captures the beautiful features inside the property, such as the priory windows and archways. It is also beautiful outside and backs right onto the river.

The day started at a hotel close to Ware Priory. Both Chloe and Mitch got ready there at opposite ends of the hotel so it worked very well and meant I didn’t need a second camera. After going from room to room and getting the shots I needed I headed over to Ware Priory. It was slightly wet and cold so I made a point of getting to The Priory early to set my lighting up for later on.  When you shoot winter weddings you really do have to make sure that you are set up to shoot inside. Professional photography has to be consistent no matter what the conditions are. Only the best quality is good enough, so when I shoot weddings this time of year I have my plan in place of where and when I am going to shoot the pictures. Ware Priory has a beautiful hall which is full of character and history which you get married in. This doubles up as the room for the photos later… Fantastic and unusual for most hotels.

Being Grade 1 listed and steeped in history, Ware Priory is a monument of historical interest and one of those venues that you constantly find new areas to shoot in. Saying that, if you find a great area that works then I will stick to that area as much as possible as people didn’t want to walk too far from the bar and warm areas.

The ceremony was romantic and emotional but fun too. A professional pianist played but when he did Oasis every single guest sang along in full voice, what a moment; its at times like that I wish I was a videographer. The music then changed and the bridal party entered, this was also emotional with Mitch getting choked and having a few tears when he saw Chloe walking down the aisle. The ceremony was conducted by Jackie Earle one of Hertfordshires best.

After the ceremony we all went out briefly into the cold and the guests threw the confetti. (For the keen photographer) I used two battery powered soft-boxes for the outside shots to get the detail in as the light was totally gone and I didn’t want to use hard flash. We then went inside and I shot all the family and friends pics again with two softboxes. Then I spent some time just with the bride and groom getting the shots of them together.

The speeches then took place in the conservatory and the cake cutting and first dance. The food was served and everything went perfectly. After some great drunken dancing and getting to see some old faces, I left them to enjoy the rest of their day.

What a great day it was, I met some lovely people and got to see the team at Ware Priory too (Kat) you did amazing.
