How we met
I first met Aimee and Mick when they came along to a wedding exhibition at Fanhams Hall. They came over to my stand and I remember chatting to them and getting on really well. I met Sandra the mother of the bride and instantly thought..”what a great couple and what a great family they are as well”. They pretty much booked me at that show and since then we became friends on Facebook and I was really looking forward to taking their professional photos.
The Wedding Day
All week the weather was a little suspect but when the day came it was slightly cloudy and bright (Perfect conditions for a photographer). Mick was getting ready with all his ushers, best man and both dads in the Hudson room at Fanhams Hall. The suits were all hanging up and the bacon sandwiches were ready to eat. They were all very relaxed and I took a few shots of all the boys before heading up to the Royston Room at Fanhams Hall to see Aimee and all the girls.
When I walked into the room the girls were all doing their make up and having a nice chilled glass of prosecco. I was offered a glass but I like to get the main photos taken first before a glass of bubbly. Aimee is a very photogenic and stunning woman so photographing her was quite easy. Her maid of honour/sister Emma was a great help and we put the dresses up in the connecting room. The wooden panelling behind the dresses looked stunning. The girls all then came in and had some pictures with the dresses hanging up. At this point they were all going to get into their dresses so I went across to see Mick and get some more pictures of them getting ready.
The boys had their own miniature beer keg in the room. It was fantastic getting pictures of them all having a beer and getting their suits on.
I then went into the Long Gallery and set up for the Civil Ceremony. Richard Edwards one of hertfordshires best registrars was talking to the guests and getting everyone settled for the entrance of the bride. Mick was standing ready with his best man and his usher/brother in law Matty (Aimees brother). Aimee then walked in with her dad and looked up at Mick as she walked in looking absolutely fabulous. During the ceremony Matty passed the rings to the couple and they sealed the end of the ceremony with a big kiss…which was one of the longest I’ve ever witnessed… “great couple”.
The guests then headed out into the gardens and I took a picture from the top window of the whole wedding party . After a nice drinks reception with their guests I took the bride and groom down into the gardens and the best man John and Maid of honour Emma.. joined us. We got all the way through the gardens using the Austian house and bridge and Japanese tea house and red bridge for some of the pictures. When we got back I shot all the group pictures and we went through into the Great Hall for the wedding breakfast.
After the meal the speeches started. Paul the father of the bride started and was brilliant and finished with a great joke about electricians which went down very well as the groom is an electrician. Then Mick delivered a great speech to his new wife and had a huge smile on his face. It was then over to his best man who was brilliant delivered a speech that had everyone in laughter and finished with what great mates they are.
The Great Hall was then cleared for the DJ to set up and get ready for the evenings entertainment. I took this opportunity to get some fun pictures which involved about 40 people coming out to the courtyard with the bride and groom and doing some running shots. The couple then went in and cut their wedding cake, then started their evenings dancing with the first dance. Everyone then joined in and the dance floor was packed. I finished the photos with a beautiful shot of the couple at the bottom of the staircase.
