I first met Lucie and Matt when I photographed Leanne and Calums wedding quite a few years back. Since then I have become great friends with the couple and photographed Matts sister Keeleys wedding to Steve, his best man Carls wedding to Deana and their friend Frankies wedding to Olly.
Anyone who knows Lucy and Matt know that they are a very popular couple and have a huge groups of friends. Lucy and Matt have always said that when they get married they wanted me to photograph their wedding. So when Matt proposed to Lucy in New York I knew id be getting a call soon. They rang me and we got everything booked in.
The Wedding Day
All week the weather forecast was going to be showers and as far as the weather went we pretty much got everything done before the rain came and then when it stopped we carried on. I arrived at Lucys house two hours before the ceremony. When I went in Yasmin was doing Lucys make up. Her sister in law Keeley had done her hair. Everyone was relaxed and enjoying this part of the morning. Carmen and me hung all the dresses up in the main bedroom and just before they all got into their dresses I took some pictures with them all. Lucy then got into her dress and i used the window light and took some some lovely shots of her against the window.
Because the times were slightly tight I arranged for my assistant to be with Matt at the Green Dragon pub and the church as I knew I would struggle time wise. I also arranged for my colleague to bring the Drone and we did a nice sweep round the church and used it later with the confetti shot and also the wedding cars driving through the lanes to the Hall. On Facebook ? See the Drone Video.
Matt then went into the church and Lucy arrived in her 1960’s Classic Rolls Royce. As she walked in her family had managed to get her nan Barbara over to the church in her wheel chair .. lucy went and saw her and then made the walk down the aisle to see her childhood sweetheart and man of her dreams. The ceremony was beautiful and was conducted by Reverend Angela Lynas. After the ceremony they walked out and id arranged two lines of guests with confetti and Lucy and Matt walked through with everyone throwing… at this point the Drone flew in and captured the moment perfectly. We went over the road and shot a few pictures in the sunshine.. we were on a tight schedule and Matt wanted to get everyone back to the Hall… so we all got into our cars and made the 25 minute journey to the hall. Whilst driving the weather started to get greyer and by the time we got to the hall there was a big grey cloud hanging over us. The rain came and everyone took their seats in the hall which looked amazing with the Shabby Chic look. The rain then stopped and we started the pictures again and took a lot more before the rain came in again. We sat down and had a lovely meal.
When the main course was finished I noticed the sun was about to come out. Lucy and Matt then came out and I shot some really dramatic shots against the sky. The pictures looked so good that everyone wanted pictures with Lucy and I was there 20 minutes getting some great photos.
After the meal the speeches started with Leslie doing the first speech to her daughter. Then Matt followed with a brilliant speech which got the attention of the whole room. The three best men then followed … the speeches were brilliant, it was great to see his two best mates and brother all telling the stories including Dyson hoovers and rough nights out when he was younger.
After the meal people went outside and i took a few more picture. The DJ was all set up and Lucy and Matt then went over and cut their wedding cake. They then went straight into the first dance and the guests surrounded the dance floor. The party was then on and the dance floor was rammed out with everyone dancing and partying.
I stayed and had some Hog Roast and then got a few more dancing shots before saying my goodbyes to lucy and Matt.
This was my first time shooting a Wedding at Albury Village Hall in Hertfordshire and I thought the Hall was amazing. Beautifully decorated and surrounded by fields and the best Hertfordshire Countryside.
