After a Corona Virus date change from June 2020 to June this year the day finally came and what a day it was. Everything started at Fanhams Hall at 11 am with Gareth and his two best men having a game of table tennis before putting their suits on. Then half an hour later I went over to see Lucy getting ready. Her hair was being done by her close friend and celebrity hair dresser Thomas Tatam. I photographed Thomas’s wedding 2 years ago and it was lovely to see him again in the flesh and not on his Instagram story. Flowers were by Lucy’s close friend Amy who owns B’looms in Bishops Stortford.
It was now time for Lucy to get into her dress with the help of her sister. Her hair and make up was perfect, she looked beautiful. We had lots of time left so we moved into the dressing room to really get some great classical shots using the huge windows and floods of natural light.
The wedding ceremony took place down in the Japanese Tea House. The civil ceremony was beautiful, the sun was out and Séana Davey started playing as Lucy walked down the aisle with her mum Janet. After the ceremony the guests were all invited to go up to the formal gardens for drinks whilst Lucy and Gareth had some photos taken in the grounds. After about 30 minutes getting some beautiful pictures they then joined their guests for drinks and nibbles. Everyone then came in for a big group shot (30 people) and then it was confetti and a few group photos. Being a covid wedding there was only 30 guests so this didn’t take long.
Oliver and his team were now ready, Paul Bray Fanhams Halls Executive chef was ready and The Great Hall was all set for the wedding meal. The Great Hall looked stunning every table was set in a semi circle so that everyone was facing the top table “genius idea”! Whilst the meal was on I took the opportunity to put the drone up and fly it around the grounds to capture the scenery.
After the meal Paul the toastmaster announced the speeches were about to begin. Gareth started, then his two best men, then Peter (Lucys brother). Peters speech was one of the best i’ve ever heard in all the weddings that I have been to. He described what I believe was the biochemistry of love in its medical and scientific form (I might have got that wrong!) and at the end he said that it was written by his sister Lucy, Dr, Author and Clinical Scientist as part of her PhD. I was blown away by this speech as was the whole room.
It was now time to cut the cake and have their first dance together which was lovely. Then later on we went out into the low sun and shot some lovely low light golden hour images. Now it was fun time, having your picture drawn, or getting in front of the magic mirror with all the props on for the bride and grooms scrapbook.
